Why You Should Not Buy Pets

Have you ever wondered what happens to that puppy in the pet shop if it does not get sold to a new home? Or where your cute little puppy came from?

How Was Cat Litter Invented

Before the mid-1940s, indoor cat boxes were filled with dirt, sand, sawdust, paper, and even ashes and cinders, which were common in a world where people still burned wood and coal at home. All of these materials would attract a cat to bury waste, but they didn't do anything about the especially unpleasant smell of feline urine.

A Present For You, My Human!

Cats are instinctive hunters. Killing prey is a natural instinct since the wild/primitive days when cats were not yet domesticated. After all, that was how they survived in the wild. These days, household cats hunt not because they are hungry, but more for the excitement. Even if you keep your cat indoors in sunny Singapore, they are still able to kill something, whether you live in a high-rise apartment or a landed home.   By bringing dead prey into the home, leaving it at the door step or at your feet, your cat is actually trying to please you...

Rules For Cats Who Have A House To Run

Rule Number One:   I. DOORS: Do not allow closed doors in any room. To get a door opened, stand on hind legs and scratch the frame. You may also reach under the door and pull clothing towards you; silks get the quickest reaction. Once door is opened, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an “outside” door opened, stand halfway in and out and think about several things. This is particularly important during very cold weather, when it’s raining, or during the height of the mosquito season. Swinging doors must be avoided at all costs.

Why Does My Kitten Hide Away From Me?

Kittens are such cute furballs and are often active and playful. You may have just adopted a kitten from one of our local shelters or from our adopted charity, Love Kuching Project by The Water Dish. Usually, kittens adopted from our charity have been socialised and are fully ready to move into their new homes. However, it is quite normal for a kitten to hide away while it gets used to a new home. Kittens find this process easier if they have one of their siblings with them, which is why many people choose to adopt two cats from a litter rather than just one. Of course, this will only be if your home situation permits. Two kittens can be quite a handful and in the kittens’ best interests, it is only fair to adopt one if you can only cope with one.
